Unit I

• Benzene and variants – The synthesis of benzene and its derivatives. Synthetic, analytical, and other evidence in the derivation of the structure of benzene. Orbital image resonance in benzene aromatic characters. Huckle’s rules B. Reactions in benzene – Nitration, Sulfonation, Halogenation Reactivity, Friedel crafts alkylation- reactivity and limitations Friedel crafts alkylation. C. Substituents, the impact of substituents on the reactivity and the orientation of monosubstituted benzene molecules toward electrophilic substitution reactions D. Structure and applications for Saccharin, DDT, BHC and Chloramine

Unit 2

• Phenols- Acidity of Phenols, the impact substitutes’ effects on acidity qualitative tests, the structure and applications of phenol cresols, resorcinol, cresols naphthol’s.
• Aromatic Amines- Basicity of amines and the effects of substituents on basicity and the use of synthetic diazonium salts of aryl.
• Aromatic Acids- (Acids Aromatic) Acidity and the impact of substituents on acidity, and crucial reactions in benzoic acid.

Unit 3
